miles to service ---?

Featured Replies

I Really wanted my first post on here to be along the line of…”I picked up my new vRS last week and it I think its brilliant” but

I picked up my new vRS last week in the couple of hundred miles I have done up and down the M3 it is OK

There is one issue though

If I check the miles/days till a service is due all I get is “---“.for both fields

Have queried this with the dealer and was told it is because the car has not learnt how I drive it to yet and it will take 500 to 1000 miles before it works out when a service is due based on my driving.

Now this sounds vaguely plausible but I am a little sceptical, I would have though it would start off with some nominal or maximum values like 18000 miles/2 years and then adjust them accordingly

Could anyone confirm this one way or the other?

Thanks

I know when mine was reset after my last service .. it took 500 miles or so before changed from '---' to the correct reading.

Great thanks, I'll stop being so paranoid then.

I just thought i'd found another thing they hadn't done at the PDI

Your dealer is correct.

What didn't they do at PDI ?

The ones I have found are, in themselves just little things

Clock was 45mins out, didn’t think much of it until I read on the checksheet “set clock” which was obviously ticked

Front tyres were 3-4 psi out, back one were spot on so not a difference in gauges

First time I went to use the windscreen washers the passenger side went over the roof and the driver’s side just hit the bonnet

As I said just little things in themselves but they are the ones I’ve spotted that were easy to fix

Would have taken them all of about 3 minutes to do them

What I am concerned about is if they didn’t do the easy things that are easy for me to spot what are the chances of them having done the rest of the PDI properly

You have to wait 500 miles ish for the car to 'learn' when service is due.
