2.0 TDi 140bhp

Featured Replies

Im assuming this is the engine fitted to the Octy 11's. Looking at a 54 plate Golf GT TDi with the 140 engine. Anything to look out for with them? Are they pretty much the same as the 130's maintenace wise?

IT has FVWSH, albeit on long life intervals, and Cambelt was changed 3k ago. Its being sold with a new MOT, had 2 new rear wishbone bushes and rear wheel bearing for it

Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong section :o

Same basic maintenace as the PD130/150/160 with no problems that i know of but different grades of oil used. Stay with the 507 long life oil though.

The PD140 doesn't seem to have a brilliant history when it comes to turbochargers, most failures are coming up to or at the 60k mark (convenient, no?)

The DMF is similar, these two seem to be the weak parts of the PD140.

If you haven't already, have a look through the Octy II section, the problems are well documented there.

My 2.0 PD140, has 63K miles on it now and apart from a sensor that cost a couple of quid has not gone wrong or been back to the dealers at all. Mine is also ex-rental (alamo), so will have been ragged for the first 13K miles of its life. I have owned the car for more than 2 years, and it has also had to survise 4 days constant driving (more than 8hrs a day) on a run down to Madrid and back via Boulogne. The 2.0PD is known for using oil, and I bet some of the turbo failures are caused by oil starvation by not checking the oil level often enough. I check mine weekly, just to be on the safe side. Mine is also on variable servicing, that means so far its been to the dealer 3 times for a service.

Same as the PD130 then

I will be changing it to 10k intervals, same as my Fabia. Will it still need 507 oil, as the manual states 506. Dont like 20k without an oil change :thumbdwn:

Bought it anyway. Lovely car :D

Just about to have a nosey through the Octy 2 forum, see what i have let myself in for

I do far more 2.0 turbos than 1.9 variants, crap turbos imho.

But at least keeping the oil fresh, checking levels etc will help.
