not leds, i meant extra lighting like driving lights, bolted to the bumper somewhere. i have been trying to find somewhere to fix them but need to be careful of the airbag sensors, i can only find one place lowish down either side of the number plate. through the plastic bumper.?. my eyes are not the best at night...so im told..

Invest in a pair of specs

what a good idea,,,, i already have them,,,,why do you think rally drivers have a nest of them on the front of their cars,,,,to make it lighter so they can actually see better,,,, i believe they are trying to immitate daylight...it was a good reply though :orb_walki

I guess you'd just be looking for a rigid part of the car to fix them to, drilling a hole if needed, or possibly getting some custom fixing brackets made up to your own specs (so bit of time with a ruler possibly needed.)

Auxiliary driving lights is something that is being exercised quite a lot here in Finland. Usually they are mounted on a separately sold L-shaped metal plate (the "L" being turned upside down), that is placed under the license plate and fixed through with the same screws. The lights are bolted onto this metal piece; top of the auxiliary driving light is then secured with a telescopic bracket, that goes through the grille and is attached to the frame with a screw. With Skoda that isn't applicable, since the grille is attached to the bonnet. Maybe if you found a rigid enough mount and put oval shaped Hella beams on it, then the top brackets won't be necessary, as the assembly would be stiff enough not to wobble, because of the light and low profiled reflector not gaining enough momentum to make the mount bend and vibrate.

Hi

Don't forget, if the lights are fitted below the bumper, they can only be used for fog lights, and leagally only used in fog.

What you need is better headlights, or decent spots above the bumper.

A quick Google for "Skoda Octavia WRC night stage pictures" should show the sort of evolution that's necessary to fit decent auxilliaries to an Octy.

How about 50% brighter headlight bulbs? I do a lot of unlit road night driving and wouldn't want to go much further due to other traffic.
