EGR Valve - turning down!!

Featured Replies

hiya guys,

this afternoon myself and Mcscooby who kindly sorted out use of his vag com were trying to turn my EGR valve down, but when following the guide from fabiavrs.com

we got this

Doc1.doc

the top image shows before the new value was entered and the values

then the bottom one shows the new values entered as per the guide but there was no change in the duty cycle or other value,

can anyone shed any light onto this,

the only conclusion we could come up with is the EGR valve may be not working correctly,

any help much much appreciated,

thanks

Rob

What vehicle and engine where you workin on?

Assuming you are not running a PD Engine, (this will not work with PD engines) the value you enter should be 33628 to turn it down to the required level.

Hope this helps.

Hi longman it was a Furby vRS, so yes its a PD engine. Its strange as when we tried it on mine, same car just no remap, the figures did as the instructions said they would.

Bobjim is your car a fairly late one as in having the BLT engine as opposed to the ASZ?

Other way around, mines the newer one with the BLT engine, 07 build, & we belive that Bobjim's is the the older ASZ engine, 04 build.

The last time I tried it. It wouldn't accept the coding you are trying to use, like the instructions say, it automatically changed it to the highest value possible that still passed emmissions at the MOT (33628).

Not sure why it worked on one and not the other. Did you blip the throttle first? Check the battery voltage output to make sure everything is ok first.

However, I have read that this doesn't work on the later, PD engines.
