VRS misfire - not coil pack - injector?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently purchased an Octavia VRS. Very happy with it overall but one niggly problem: Every now and again, on acceleration I'll get a misfire for maybe 10 seconds. The engine light flashes, but then the misfire will stop, engine light goes out and all is well again.

The idle is also rough on occasion, which I think may be related.

The first time I got the misfire I did an auto-scan with vag com and got the fault codes pasted below.

It was in for a service, so I got the garage to advise - they said probably a coil pack and changed it. This did not cure the problem so I put it on vag-com and same fault codes. Just to be certain I swapped the coils & plugs on cylinders 4 and 1 and still the same fault code.

So this is definitely not coil or plug related!

I guess the next suspect is injectors.

Is there anything else this might be related to?

Are injectors easy enough to change as a DIY job? How long does it take? I've done most of my own spannering on previous cars, but little so far on the VRS.

Cheers

Neil

Mickvrs had a similar problem lately. New plugs and a coil pack sorted it.

Injector is a possibility, I wouldnt say its a DIY job, they are proper buried.

I would also look into the reflash and pressure sensor to sort the rough idle.

There is a thread on here from about a year - 15 months ago on this very subject IIRC; relates to coil packs failing/catching fire. Have a search for it, quite comprehensive info.

However; IMHO - get thee down to your dealer for a diagnostic/fix; it will on warranty won't it?
