Anybody have any idea how long it should take dealer to fit replacement?

VW charged half an hours labour when i worked there.

It only actually takes about 5-10mins though.

Just depends if you buy the part off them, they might end up fitting it free of charge.

The cover is a bit worrying to get off. If you pull the whole mirror towards the front of the car you can then get your fingers under the inside edge that normally sits next to the A piller. If you pull it up and back towards the front of the car it should come away. It crunches a bit and doesn't sound good but mine was fine and it was cracked.

The glass is held in by a few small plastic clips. You can pop off the top few with your fingers and the glass will come away with just the heating wires holding it.

The screws to release the indicator lens need quite a long spline screwdriver to get to. I can't remember the size but it's small. The inside one is quite tricky to get.

DIY is fine, i've done 3 to date

Sometime earlier this year someone posted a step-by step photo guide to taking off the cover. A search should find it.

I need to replace the heated mirror in mine. Is it a dealer only purchase; or can it be sourced elsewhere. And how much will it cost?
