Exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a problem with my exhaust blowing at the moment,it sounds like the downpipe and is really quite loud when the engine is at high revs, unfortunatly at idle and high revs while in neutral it is audible but bearly.

I've been to my local garage and they cant trace where its leaking from and keep saying let it get worse and come back!,this has been going on for about 3 weeks now and I want it sorted.

So firstly-Is this a problem anyone else has had,if so any help would be great.

And secondly-The garage inform me if it is the downpipe/cat it would be quite expensive,How much??

With this in mind i have been looking at aftermarket ones(Blueflame) sport cat and the rest of the system, are these any good?,and with the sport cat will it pass an MOT ok?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

Scott

Its not leaking from the flexi pipe is it?

AFAIK blueflame now use the 200cel cat so should pass the MOT no problems.

The flexi pipe is the most likley but cannot see or feel a leak :(

I dont really want order one just in case it not that.

I have my standard downpipe and CAT sat in my garage. Done less than 10,000 miles before it got swapped for a full Blueflame system. If you find yourself stuck send me a PM and make me an offer.

Hope it's something simple for your though. I took mine to skoda under warranty with a suspected bottom end failure - it sounded that bad. Ended up being the turbo had come away from the manifold .

EDIT

Just realised you've not said what model octavia it was.

Change garage. It takes a real chimp to be unable to find an audible exhaust blow!

Its an 04 (mk1),going to skoda this week to find out for sure but will be interested if it turns out to be the downpipe.

I was referring to weather your car was a Vrs or not? Anyway I'm near Liverpool in the good old North West of England. I hope it turns out to be something very simple for you.
