Boot lock mechanism

Featured Replies

Strange one this, I'd noticed occasionally that sometime after I'd opened my hatch, there was a sound like a 'shot' which seemed to be the hatch release mechanism in the rear trim resetting? This has been happening for sometime & I assumed this was normal. However over the weekend it has developed a habit of not 'resetting' which is resulting in the hatch not closing, until I manually push the lever back & then it will close.

Has anyone had this? Is it easy to fix myself (with WD40 or some other lub?)...as a trip to the dealer is always more painful than it should be.

This is now happening each time I open & close the hatch...until now I have been able to reset it, by pushing a lever at the LHS back in, but the concern is it may cause further damage if I don't get if fixed...I've had a search on here & can't find anything. Help!

Possibly the latch mechanism 'sticking'. White spray grease (in aerosol cans) is a good general purpose lubricant for latches and hinges.
