Is this a good service cost?

Featured Replies

Hi all, just a quick opinion on the cost of a 4 year service on my fabia.

Ive been quoted £400 for the major service, cambelt (including waterpump). Is this a good price do you think?

Cheers, Simon

I think you should look around. Try to PM - Lummox from "Unit 18" on the site. ;)

Edit: BRISKODA - The Skoda Forums

I travelled from Cirencester to visit Ross at U18. A better price than that and happy with the work. Had cruise control fitted at the same time and he did a few VAG Com alterations while I was there.

Im sure he is very good, however I live in Devon and Bournemouth during the week, so somewhere local would be better!

Thats about spot on for a Skoda dealership service price but your far better off finding a VAG specialist in your local area as their labour costs will be less expensive and they will make sure they do a good job on your car to get repeat business. Jabba Sport are charging me £300 and Im traveling over a 100 miles to get it done with them because I know theyre really good.

I'm not saying use them but I am saying you would find a better deal at a non dealership garage. Have a look on the net for your nearest VAG specialist (VAT registered) and ask around to see how good they are in order to get feedback so you can put your mind at ease.

Hope this helps

The £400 I quoted was from an Independant that ive used before, hes excellent, but fully booked (weekends - which is the only time I can do) until January!

Just to confirm, this is a 4 year big service, PLUS a cambelt and waterpump change.

Are there any good independant places you know of around the Bournemouth area?

If i had realised it was going to be such a long wait then I would have booked it in ages ago :(

That's not a bad price at all. If they are people you trust then a pound or two either way is of no significance - and, being local, if you have any problems they're more easily sorted. I'd take it.

The problem I have is I work in Bournemouth during the week, and I go home to Devon on weekends, so its rather difficult juggling it all around!!

Ive just spoken to APD VAG in Bournemouth, they seemed helpful and knowledgeable so will see what they quote me.

Very good price IMHO. If they do quality work then I would take it.

Where is the Skoda Garage in Bournemouth? I have been here a while and still can't find it. :o

APD Quoted me £580  thats more than the dealer here!

I will have to try and go home during the week to get it done for £400 then! The work he does is very good, so I cannot complain at that price

Theres two garages around here, the one I tried was Westover Skoda in Wimbourne BH21 3LB.

They wanted £500 for service and cambelt, the waterpump was extra.
