Steel Wheels HELP ME PLEASE

Featured Replies

:confused:Thinking of buying a set of steel wheels for my mk1 Octavia SLX TDI to put winter tyres on. They are 6,0J x 15". If in the future I buy a new shape 4x4 Tdi which is my plan will these wheels fit? I've noticed that the Mk2 4x4 is also a 5 stud fitment 15" albeit slightly wider. local breaker wants £48 for 4 steelies which doesn't seem to bad.

your mk1 octy is 5-stud with a pcd of 5x100. the mk2 octy, although 5-stud aswell has a pcd of 5x112. so in short, if you buy steels for your current octy, they won't fit on to a new shape octy! you could buy 5x100-5x112 hub adapters so you could fit mk2 steels to your car now, and then to the new shape octy, but this would be silly as it will work out cheaper to just buy another set of steels when you buy your new octy!

thanks what does pcd of 5x100 mean in laymans terms?

pcd (pitch circle diameter) of 5x100 means that if you were to mark the centre of each wheel bolt, then draw a circle through all the points, the diameter of the circle will be 100mm. the higher the pcd, the further away from the centre of the hub the bolts will be:)
