Well, I have now run the car for a week with the new filter , and , guess what , failed to start several times . The only thing that was common to these starts was that the car was parked on level ground . It seems that when I park it facing down-hill slightly , ie on my driveway , there isn't so much reluctance to get going .

I sealed the filter with blue non-setting sealant and very strong duct-tape when it went on .

Any ideas ??

Have a look at the lift pump in the tank and also the strainer in the bottom of the lift pump assembly.
