Featured Replies

10w-40 or 15w-40, but I'd probably go for 10w-40 and go for something a little better than the cheapest supermarket stuff.

thanks V much mate much appreciated :)

Just bought 4l of Castrol Magnatec 15 - 40 for £15.83 at Halfords.

If you goto the website, Halfords charge £17.59 but they have a 10% offer, so reserve & collect like Argos and pop in and collect it at the cheaper price.

Along with this, I bought some Copper Grease, in total £19.87, but thanks to internet surveys, I just happen to have £20 gift voucher for Halfords:thumbup::cool:

Cool, don't suppose the survey is just a link, or is it a case of just completing them all the time and getting lucky?

If you can get hold of a Halford's trade card you can get a discount on things, but I believe you can't use the discount with other discounts - you just need a couple of parts invoices from car parts you've bought and hopefully the person you talk to will let you have one. See http://briskoda.net/general-car-chat/got-me-halfords-trade-card-d/103193/ Only problem is you don't find out the trade price until you take things to the till and ask.

Cheers for the trade card link. I'll look at that in the morning.

As for the surveys, it is really is just filling in your profile, as much as you can and they will send surveys that pay small amounts, depending on which survey company yo deal with.

Example being Valued Opinons pay "cash" while Toluna pay points.

What I'll do, again in the morning, I PM a full set of links of who I use and what they are like if you want.

For the sake of 20 odd minutes, you get some interesting surveys and the chance to try products ;):thumbup:

I did use 15w40 Magnatec on my Skodas 80k mile service but have switched to a cheaper AC Delco 10w/40w now using that in my sisters car too. I get 5l for £11/12.make sure its semi synthetic too.

i've used plain 40w oil on my 86' VW golf GL dint like it because of the tapets, that was then when i added the transmision fluid to clean it out and used a 20W50 on it (because it was very old car) but i prefer the 15W40 on this type of climate (24 winter time 32 summertime) but the manual from my feli says anything from 5,10,15or20 till 50.. i guess 20W50 on this one would make it more quiet or plain 40, but i dont know about that, i'm pretty hesitant, what do you guys think, acording to my climate...
