Bi-xenon on facelifted Octavia II with AFS?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the facelifted Octy II will have Bi-xenon if ordered with AFS (adaptive frontlight system) ?

All the info I have got tells me it does, but the Norwegian importer is now telling me that it will only have xenon on the low beam, and a standard halogen bulb for the high beam... Very disapointing if that turns out to be true..

From what I understand it will be available with bi-xenon with AFSII technolodgy.

I just spoke with a friend of mine who works at the docks where all new Skoda cars arrive to norway from the factory, and he could confirm what the importer told me.. Even with AFS lights, the facelifted Octavia does NOT have bi-xenon.

I find it very strange, considering that the headlamps look like they have a lot in common with the Superb II when equipped with AFS..

Must be really bad for the people working in sales who might even have sold cars telling customers that if they ordered AFS they would get bi-xenon.. Not a very pleasant job to make calls to tell those who have ordered new cars that they have been paying for something they will not get..

When they first started importing Octavias into Oz in 2007 all the documentation described the optional headlights as "bi-xenon". Thanks to the great info available on the Briskoda site I soon found out they were xenon on low beam only. The doco has now been amended, but I was disappointed that it wasn't high beam as well.

I speculate that it is an area of differentiation between different VAG group cars, because it can't cost much extra to add high beam as well, particularly when some of the other cars you make have it (ie Superb). And the technology would also be available from other VAG cars.

All in all a bit of a disappointment (but at least I did know what I was getting before I signed up for my new car).
