VRS Head Rebuilt and now smoking/cold start problems - help/advice?

Featured Replies

evening all

about a month ago my wee VRS went clang. Water pump siezed, belt snap, valves go ping etc etc etc.

Its all back together BUT the car struggles to start when cold (but does) then smokes a lot. When its warm its fine. The garage are scratching their head and are trying injector set up rejig. They have asked dealers and no one knows what to do. Its £1500 worth of work so far so I'm loathe to throw more money at it.

does anyone have any ideas? The car ran absolutely fine the second (and weeks/months) before it went clang too???

any ideas what might cause cold start and smoke problems that arent there when its warm??

thanks hopefully!

It isn't as simple as the temperature sender is it?

Glow plug relay system?

most likely a slightly bent conrod or a few in that case, once the car warms up it will straighten a little and not give the prob.

compression will be down a bit when cold and better when hot. do a compression test when hot and cold and look at the difference.;)
