Headlight/highbeam

Featured Replies

Having just cleaned the interior of the wifes Fab3, happened to notice what I think is odd and possibly wrong headlight indications in the dash binnacle. Flash high beam and both green headlamps and high beam lamps illuminate in the dash, along with with what sounds like a strange relay beep under the bonnet. Now put the headlamp switch on, it does the same if flicking the stork to flash high beam or clicked down to high beam..green headlamp dash light still stays illuminated. Pull the fog light switch out and they all stay illuminated when high beam put on, which includes the outside lamps BTW.

Now I suspect a relay problem, but before I visit the dealer can anyone try theirs and retell their results.

Cheers

ps Just tried the Barge and Transporter, and leave green headlamp light on (Barge) but both switch fog lamp off when high beam switched, both internal dash lamp and external lights)

I can tell you tomorrow evening what the headlamp dash lights should be doing. TBH, I don't get much chance to use main beam and I rarely use the headlamp flash.

I'll check it out though.

Ah well, I tried anyway. I had hoped 63 views might have offered up more replies, but I suppose this isn't a how many words thread.

Thankyou anyway, I shall be contacting the dealer about it tomorrow first thing so I will know tomorrow morning anyway.

If i read that right it all sounds ok?

Hi Andy,

What you are describing is correct the green dipped beam light does stay on with the main beam light. I think it is because there is only one bulb for dipped and main and it is a mirror in the lense which alters the intensity. all will stay lit when fog lights are turned on.

Whatever their reasons, fog lights front and rear all stay illuminated when high beam switched on/flashed. I have to say I have never known a vehicle allow this due to the currents drawn. If it melts tomorrow at least I will know why.

ps, thanks to the three of you

If the lightswitch is pulled all the way out to activate front and rear fog lamps, and you use the flash function or put on high beam lights by pushing the left stalk forwards, the fog lamps will still be on, and the indicators in the instrument cluster will still indicate that all the lamps are illuminated.

Perfectly normal, and it will not melt :-)

Andy, just seen this.

With headlights and front fogs on = 2 green lights with main beam either flash or on = 2 green + 1 blue then with rear fog aswell = 2 green, 1 blue and 1 orange. so you can have upto 4 lights showing.

(The above was done on my Roomy)
