Sorry with the slow reply. Yes the alarm went off, but by the time we'd even looked out the window they'd found the glove box empty and shot off in another car.

I'll have to get somebody to help me with that German style alarm. Sounds cool.

Update on this. Everything is fixed now and it’s only cost my £65 excess to fix. My insurer (swiftcover) will also be freezing my NCD this year as a result of the claim. Wanted to let you all know as according to the nice guy at a well know window repairer this sort of condition has become much more common recently.
