1-Series Antics

Try doing that in your Fabia Steve :)

Hes got a slippy diff in that.. they are useless without one

I'm liking that!

or he has racelogic.....

none the less is a cool sight...

There are a couple of 123Ds on YouTube without slippy diffs managing to do a spot of drifting.:)

Here is a little bit of tail out in this German vid. He compares the 123D with the Golf GTi Pirelli and apparently can’t choose between them! The BMW bit starts about 5’30” in. there is also a straight race between the Pirelli Golf and a 123D Coupe in another German Vid and the 123D wins! I was quite surprised to be honest.

This is an interesting one of the 123D Coupe doing a spot of drifting, but looking at the inside rear wheel, it doesn’t look like it has a LSD. Must admit I would have liked one on my car (might have saved me getting a little 4x4 too)

I forgot to add.

Did think LSD, especially with the long curve video :) - he gets a pretty impressive continuous slide hooked up

Steve

135i

LSD

Or shall I just put a slippy diff in the 328? :P

You have had it for 4 months Tom... Time to change ;)

Also you only get the 135 in the hunchback coupe or cabriolet. I imagine it's quite brisk though, despite both shapes looking pig ugly. Seems it has E46 M3 pace in either :D

I notice a few remap options for them as well ;)

Steve

Yeah, I like the coupe, but tbh a 335i makes more sense. 400bhp with just a map is just

4 months eh. Will tick over 130k on the way home and its running as sweet as ever.

Here's my mate Delboy at work in his Monaro, it was stock - ish but he has now gone the turbo route to extract a bit more power.

Birds do an LSD for the 1 series, but I think it would invalidate my warranty if BMW wanted to be mean about it. Mind you, if that was to happen then a quick remap to 250-260 bhp might be just the ticket 36_2_29.gif

This one amused me: YouTube - BMW 1.30 i M-Sport

And this one is just a little bit mental: YouTube - BMW 130i drift

Maybe I should get a 130 next! :rubchin: :D

Steve

I was so hoping the first one would end in tears, maybe a container lorry pulling out or some such. Instead all he'd get was a bill for a new set of rear tyres (unless it was nicked).

The second one looked like a cheap European version of Top Gear with Eurostig at the wheel!

As for getting a 130 Steve, I'm sure a 330 coupe would do the same tricks and has the added benefit of not looking like a very large mammal has sat on it.

I've actually warmed to the 1-Series, if it's in M-Sport trim. The sideskirts and rear valance finish it off well I think.

It's just the coupe and cabriolet I can't abide. Always after something a bit 'different' and the 3-Series would be a bit obvious. Plus I'm not a great fan of the current revision anyway.

Just sit quietly in a darkened room for a few hours and the feeling will go away and then you'll be able to resume life as normal.

Repeat if the feeling returns.

I have a Fabia. That isn't exactly penned by the fine hand of a Pininfarina genius either ;)

I quite fancy a 1 series myself for my next car with a few "M" additions.

When it's time to remove the big cheshire cat smile from driving Debbies Panda 100HP, and she inherits the Roomster that's "probably" where I may be heading as I fancy a RWD / or AWD car and nothing that Skoda produces fire's my rockets. I also think the new Scirocco is a lovely car and that's on the short list to.

For me, the 123d also ticks the reasonable running cost box too. And there's some tempting examples available at the moment (for both the 123 and 130).

Steve

It seems strange to me that they don't put 123d engine in the 3 series, looks to be a cracking engine.

A mate has recently bought a 120d M Sport remapped to around 200 horses.

Having owned various tweaked VAG PD diesels, he says the power & torque smoother & more refined in the Beemer but still feels quicker than anything he's owned.

He did say it gets a bit lairy in the rain & snow - RWD+wide runflats+torquey diesel= FUN!!!
