correct type oil 1.9 TDI PD 8 valve

Featured Replies

 Hi everyone...

I have no doubt that this will have been asked before.......I have just been looking in my Skoda handbook for the correct oil for a late 2005 Octavia 1.9 TDI PD 8 valve Estate.

Would someone kindly identify the correct oil I need to buy (I don't want a specialist oil, unless I have to) from somewhere such as Halfords or similar. The handbook goes on about particle filters and shows various standards etc.

Grateful for a definitive answer

Tom

Thats fine for fixed servicing.

Oil must be to the VW spec probably VW507..Which service regime are you on? standard or variable?

There are lots of threads regarding the right oil and it's important that you use the right oil!

thanks (again, Moley)

I will be on fixed servicing

Tom,

I think the oil is about £40 from my local Seat dealer plus I'd only ever fit a VAG filter. New sump plug under a pound. As both our cars are under warranty I'd rather use dealer supplied oil for interim changes.

I think you will need a 32mm socket for the filter.

Ian

Can get 5L of Millers XFD PD Diesel Oil for about the same price, thats what i use in mine.

Also Millers is what id prefer to use, opposed to the halfrauds oil.

If it's a PD wouldn't it need to meet VW 505.1 rather than 505.0 for fixed servicing.

I'd say that £35 for 5L of that is a heck of a lot of money to pay myself, when 5L of the stupidly expensive VW504/507 is only £5 more.

From which supplier matey?

May have to look into that, the car has been on variable servicing its entire life, since i last serviced it.

I use to do my Astra's every 6-7k, but i've lost interest into going that crazy on the servicing, and opted to do it every 10k now.

The Millers oil was the easiest option for me to go for, as no one local sold the VW/504/507 oils.

Is there any noticable difference in terms of performance and noise moving to the VW504/507 oils?

Also what is the viscosity of the oil?

Halfords own VW504/507 is £41 for 5L.

FWIW halfords have 20% off Mobil 1 at the moment.

The 504/507 ESP oil is £37ish for 4L

They also had Mobil1 S (forget it's full name) is £20 for a bottle too, which seems good.

Dont want to be putting Halfords Oil in my car, i know its probably produced by another company for halfords.

But the thought is still there, due for a change in about 3000miles so will leave it till then.

Halfords oil is produced by Comma.

Hello , 1,9 tdi pd bjb euro 3 is 8 v or 16 v?
