Ker plunk sound

Featured Replies

hello

My 2004 Octavia TDI 110 has started to make a "Ker plunk" sound when the engine is switched off and a dry bearing type noise when cold :(

Im sooo confused! Help!

Mine makes the ker plunk noise too. I'm assuming it's the anti shudder valve. I checked the car recently and their are no error codes showing so I'm not worrying about it.

No idea about the other noise though.

I've never heard the "ker-plunk" noise, so no help there.

As for the dry bearing noise when cold:-

1) I had that once on another car, and it eventually traced to hardened grease in a rear wheel bearing.

2) Is the car nearing a service? Mine is always noisier in the 2_000 miles or so before service.

3) Is the cambelt due soon? I'd another car where similar symptoms proved to be a failing cambelt tensioner!

Cheers for the replies

Ker Plunk sound doin my head in but doesnt seem to be affecting anything.

Other noise is when the car is stationary, cold and its intermittant.

Serviced 1k ago and thought the same as you Ken, so I replaced the timing belt, guides and water pump last nite and got quite emotional when it was still singing away! :insane:
