vRS Water Pump ???

Featured Replies

OE or not ?

i work in parts, and im pretty strictly OE with regards to most parts, however i see on here some people dont rate it

I had an OEM one fitted when I had mine done for two reasons: first, the design's been improved in the last few years; second, the whole 'metal impeller' thing came about due to a spate of failures on VAG 1.8Ts which are a lot more prone to that sort of thing apparently - failure of the water pump on a 1.9TDI is practically unheard of...

Any more info on those changes? I went for the metal version when I had my engine changed as it was available, and it just will not fail as likely :)

I am going to fit the metal impellor one.... genuine Skoda... if you hand in your own unit they will give you £25 for it ;)

Err, Skoda never made a fully metal one???

That is what I thought as well, and although they may not fail on the PD, I did not fancy taking the risk at the time the cambelt was changed and paid the difference to get a metal one instead :)

I always fit genuine, never had a problem with new plastic ones and ive only ever seen one TDi water pump fail.

Will they just pay you £25 for your old water pump? If so, I know where I'm going to soon!

You might have bought it from a Skoda dealer, but it won't have been a part listed on ETKA ;)
