Advice needed on remaps please.

Featured Replies

Hi,

Bought a Mk2 Octy VRS TFSI recently and want to get it re-mapped. Had my previous car (LC 1.8T) re-mapped by Will at P-Torque, very pleased, very cheap, very good service - made use of his Christmas offer last year.

So, I've been having a mooch around and given a budget of £300 I have the following options:

1) Another P-Torque remap, another Christmas special - £290

2) Jabbasport - also £290

3) ChippedUK ST3 - £300 (to mkvgti members but I'm sure they'd honour the price)

I've heard good things about Jabbasport, have previous experience of P-Torque but can only find bits and pieces on the ST3 including a fair few unhappy customers - however, being able to have 2 maps, reset to standard whenever I want and NOT burn a tank of fuel getting the remap is quite interesting to me.

Can anyone offer any advice? I'd be especially interested in hearing ST3 vs. other remaps on the same car.

Thanks in advance :)

If it was me after hearing so many good reviews i would go for Revo.

The price may be a little more but you will also have the switchability if you buy a select plus at a later date.

If your budget can't be stretched then i would go for P-torque.

Another vote for Revo or P-torque.

Also RS Tunning in Leeds do awesome remaps and offer a switchable remote (similar to superchips bluefin) that can be posted out to you so you dont have to travel, it may be abit over your budget tho but you would save money in traveling.

Never heard of ChippedUK ST3!

I'm hurt you have to ask after I started a discount price for you too :eviltongu

I've just looked at the bluefin website ( bluefin ) and they've got a 20% discount on at the moment, so you would get it for £390 delivered to your door. It seems to give good gains in power 41 bhp and im sure you get warranty on your car with it also.

Maybe worth considering!

if you have used p-torque before and had only good thing to say then i would stay with them....atleast you no what your getting and they have proved to you that there good...

the choice is yours:P

Sorry Will but I have to make you work for your cash don't I? :D

I think it's a foregone conclusion though - without exception I've never heard any negative comments about P-Torque remaps and as westallc said better the devil you know...!

The suppose the only difference last year to this is that at last year's prices the decision was a no brainer - appreciate it's a different engine and it's still as cheap as any other remap I might find out there but it's less of a no brainer if that makes sense, hence the exploration of other options.

i got blufin for my car mate, results are outstanding, and installation was a piece of ****.

they delivered it within 2 days, and if you wanna upgrade your car some more, such as exhaust and filters they do uprated remaps after at no extra cost, just phone them, give them the details and the will adjust the bluefin via the net

and yes they are offering 20% discount, which is great if you never bought it last month, like i did, lol, getting it piut on the RR over xmas so wait out on performance gains, all i know i can keep with my mates astra vxr now, no probs, which says alot for the power and torque from the remap, cos he used to annihalate me:thumbup:

Yes I had Bluefin on the shortlist originally - JKM are also giving £30 of vouchers which would almost cover a Cotton Green filter which I would buy at some point anyway, so lowers the price a little.

Still a bit more expensive than the other options but good to hear you're pleased with it.
