Aero Blades need help fitting!!!

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have bought VALEO Silencio Wiper Blades 21 and i have no idea how to fit them. I assume i am missing a part? Can anybody help?

Cheers

Bill

Bill,

I have Valeo Aero Blades on the Fabia.

Remove the old blade then open the cap on the new valeo blade, fit onto wiper arm ( slide onto hook like traditional blade )and close the cap.

Job done.

I am still slightly confused by this - i just have some blades and cannot work out how they slide onto the hook :(

I thought all Superbs had the Aero Twin type blades?

In which case, fitting is simplicity itself - raise the arm, turn the blade until it's perpendicular to the arm, then lift the blade up vertically.

Bear in mind though that if you've purchased the type of blade that enables the Aero Twin type to be fitted to the standard hook type wiper arm, which is what LG was suggesting, they won't fit a Superb.

The ones you need to the Superb are equiv to Bosh 928S.

I just rang GSF and they have sent me the wrong blades, glad i was not being completely stupid :)

However i still have concerns, the blades on my car currenlty are not aero and my wiper arm has a hook fitting. Is this differrnt to yours Bluefox??

Actually, I was under impression that most Superbs were sold with standard blades... and so was mine.

I only saw aero blades on the last facelift Superbs, the ones with exhaust at the rear bumper instead of underneath it.

Glad you have it sorted and have the correct ones coming. When the new ones come the fitment onto the hook is fairly straight forward.

Sorry cant help with what sort of arm all Superbs have.

My poverty spec MY '05 car has Bosch aero wipers as OE.

When I was shopping for it, I observed that earlier and later cars had conventional wipers with hook-end arms. I think the aero blades caused trouble (they're useless in cold weather if the rubber develops a "set" due to being parked when flipped in the same direction constantly) so the later cars reverted to standard blades.

I reverse the "set" when leaving the vehicle sometimes to avoid this - a really naff piece of design.

rotodiesel.

Mine, like Roto's seemingly, are Bosch Aero Twin's as OE. Agree about the design though - I see no point to Aero Twin's other than for aesthetics.

Interestingly though mine's a MY03...

that make no sense to me :( if yours is 03 and mine is 54 (05) how can we have different wiper arms if they only placed diffferent ones on newer models?

Maybe your superb (bluefox) was already a project before you started??????

and BTW i have loads of respect for people who spend loads of money on their car :) i would love to but it turns out my wife is the boss and she loves shoes :)

I suspect not, it was ex-fleet and still had manufacturer's warranty when I purchased it. I think this is just "one of those things" although I'm still yet to hear of another Superb with standard blades...

Anyway, who said I spent loads on my car? SWMBO loves shoes as well you know... ;)

How long have you own it?

Maybe who ever owned it before got fed up with the blades freezing when it got a bit nippy outside and as as it was a fleet car got Skoda to convert it to normal wipers.

Got to say I have tried every wiper out there and the only ones that I have found that dont freeze are the Valeo wipers, only prob is where as the Valeo ones that fit original flat blade arms are about £20 the generic ones you want are over £30

They are at retail, yeah... ;)

I've never had my Bosch blades freeze to the screen - although I do carefully lift them up when I'm scraping the screen in the mornings.

GSF sent me some new blades yesterday and this time i got Bosch Aero Twin - I haven't fitted them yet but it doesn't look like these ones should be any issue. Should i be concerned that i ordered VALEO and got Bosch

I knew it. I knew it would happen. Guess what happened this morning folks??:mad::mad::mad:

Still, the "careful lift" approach worked fine. Shame my fingers didn't :(

No, I doubt it.

I've heard some people slating the Bosch branded Aero Twin's before, and I must admit they're not as good as their standard blades but in terms of Bosch blades vs Valeo blades, I wouldn't worry IMHO.

Sorry I think you got me wrong, I wasnt on about wipers freezing to the screen as thats probably unavoidable, especially how cold its been lately.

I was on about how the Aero wipers blade seems to freeze/set in the last position it was in and not be pliable so it doesnt flip when going back up the screen, All the Bosch and Skoda wipers I have tried would set rigid when cold but the Valeo always stayed pliable so they would always flip on every direction change and wipe the screen properly regardless on how cold it is.

Ah, I see. Yeah, Roto mentioned this earlier and I agree.

Perhaps this is the reason that (at most) the Aero's last no longer than a year - maybe I'll buy a set of Valeo's next time.
