Clay Def Recommended

Featured Replies

Washed the car yesterday (despite the freezing condirions) and when starting to polish, notices a rather nasty mark on the top of the bootlid, no idea what it was, could have been resin or bird crap . Anyway nothing I tried would get it off (alcohol, thinners, tar remover) all failed. Even a good polish didn't take it away completely.

So today went to Halfrauds ( I know but they're close) and got a Meguiars Clay Kit consisting of detailing spray, 2 microfibre cloths, 2 clay bars and some polish. This cost £23.

5 mins later and good going over with the clay bar and the mark is removed

Another 5 minutes and the polish is put to good use, leaving a smooth shiny finish.

Never considered the use of a clay bar before but I'm glad I've taken the plunge.

IMO it's an essential piece of kit, if you want your car to look good.

Mine always get the 'full' treatment when first bought, and a proper wax etc. Henceforth a decent wash once a week, and a polish/wax now and again keeps on top of the job, and a clean car is always easier to keep clean ( if that makes sense.)

I used clay for the first time last year. The difference is amazing, and it even removed tiny spots of masonry paint off my Fabia.
