RE Cambelt change on PD130 every 4 years a con?

Featured Replies

Our PD 100 belt lasted to 80k miles but that was partly because the main dealer "forgot it" at the 60k service. Fortunately the alternative dealer that did the 80k service noticed...

done mine 4yrs / 50 000 for my 130 /170 cam belt... ;)

just had mine done today @ 56k and 4yrs 10 months

to be honest the belt looked fine, and the water pump that came off had no play in it at all

not worth the risk though !

The water pump isn't about play, it is about releasing the tension when removing the belt and retensioning it when the belt is replaced. This action often unseats the pump and it leaks. So you do the job all over again with a new pump, antifreeze and cambelt. The choice is yours.

one of the main reasons i did the pump was because it was SO cheap, i work for Renault and most of our water pumps are 3-4 times the price
