Sad news, indeed.

He created one of the defining moments in 70's childrens television, and I'll be forever grateful to him. My daughter loves watching Bagpuss all these years later. It's a shame that the folks who commission childrens TV these days don't think there is any call for programs like this.

Oh well, off to buy the Mr. Benn box set now
