Audio cd burning problem

Featured Replies

I've been trying to burn some old & new music tracks on to a cd with my HP laptop, running Vista, using Media Player version 11 (I think). All goes well until I try to play them in my hifi Denon player, which has worked fine with burnt discs from my previous laptop/s. It just acts as if its a blank. If I put it in my car player (bog standard Octy mk1) it works fine.

I checked an old disc and all the info on it in explorer appear the same to me (I am not a complete novice but also no expert:P). I've tried 2 different sorts of disc as well. Anyone got any ideas? Before I buy a new cd player?

Use nero to burn them off. I've never had any problems, including on CD players that say they don't play CD-R.

I'll give Nero a try then, but its odd cos I've used Media Player before with no problem but not on this laptop

Media player might be leaving the discs open so you can write multiple sessions to them? Some players absolutely hate that and won't even cue the disc.

it says its closing the discs so no luck there:confused:

I've just been attempting burning again and after searching the web have come to the conclusion that its Media player 11 on Vista thats to blame. Think I'll email Microsoft and see what they say.

Check the format, windows media player may be formatted to burn to .cda file

some cd players will not recognise this file type

you should be able to convert the file type, by going into media player properties and selecting .mp3 (not sure if this is possible with wmp11)

I don't think this is the problem as I just checked a couple of tracks - one ended with .wav and one .mp3. I think I changed how they were ripped but it made no difference.

I'm not sure, but if you have a variety of file types on a burnt CD, some CD players are unable to read the track information, thus rendering the CD unplayable.

Try this website out, maybe they are able sort your problem? club.cdfreaks.com or download a free music converter dBpoweramp is excellent go to Download.com and check it out.

You could also try Imgburn which is a totally free CD burning application unlike Nero.

Make your cue sheet and then create an Audio CD using the steps described here :)

I'm off at Xmas so I'll spend a bit more time b*ggering about with it then. Thanks for info/suggestions.
