Loving the Mecano bracketry! :p

Keep up the good work gents.

It's what came with the intercooler. I'll make something a bit more solid once i'm happy with the position of it and i've tried the front bumper on etc.

Yeah that would have been ideal but I managed to find a 2.5" universal pipework kit on Ebay for £60 and the reducers were only £6 each.

Don't suppose you made more than one mount that you'd like to sell me? Just saves me getting a 'one-off' made.

Mine is made from stainless steel as I am using 0.5mm stainless tube to keep the strength and save the weight, as its actually lighter than the thicker alloy tube and we can bend it at work

Alex

It all clears the aircon rad OK then, I though it was going to be very tight on that, especially on the O/S where the tank part is

That is the only place I had an issue. I had to modify the bumper bar to clear that end and i've also put a few washers between the front panel and where the radiator mounts screw in to give a bit more clearance. There is a rib running down that side of the front panel also which I needed to trim too.

i was goin to get one of those cos the forge one it bloooooooooooody pricey.

Can you either post or email me more photos of your installation? Also, do you have the facility to make a map sensor mount or would you like one made for you?

I can get one made up as we have a machine shop on site (at work) , I forgot you said you were making your pipework out of stainless.

I've got the last reducer coming so I can connect my pipework to the turbo coming on Tuesday so i'll get some sorted then!

Its more of the clearance issues on the front, as I am trying to make everything up before I remove the bumper etc as I am using the car every day and just would like to know a bit more of what I face first. I was just going to bite the bullet and do it, but soon as you are a step ahead of me on fitting it any help would be gratefully received,

Alex

I am looking into making one to fit properly and then I make make a few kits. Where in Bucks are you?

Alex

Wow, missed this for 3 week... d'oh!

Wooburn Green

any1 making one of these that fancies doin 2 and making a bit of coin on the side ;)

Yeah no problem mate - i'll take some detailed pics and put up a full report of what i've done to get it all to fit. It's a tight squeeze (which is kind of obvious!) but it all fits.

For me i'd rather point people in the right direction. I bought everything bar the map sensor mount off EBay but it's not a super easy DIY fit, you need to have a bit of mechanical know how and be prepaired to trim bits off the front panel, modify the bumper bar etc.

hmm i could do that with the bumper and panel... its all optional extra's anyway

Its the stainless pipes i'd fall short on lol... make yours up... then sell it to me and start again :D:thumbup:

Phil is using aluminium pipes from akit bought on ebay, i'm using stainless steel, just because i can custom bend it all at work

My total cost at the moment is about £150 all in with Mikalor clips too and repalement pipes all the way to the inlet manifold

Alex

What would stop you joining your pipes onto the standard hoses where they meet the SMIC?

Nothing really it's just as my car was accident damaged some of this was rendered useless, also the kit I bought came with loads of different pipes so I though I may as well use them as opposed to spending out extra on replacing the damaged stuff.

Here are a few pics of the mount for the map sensor :

I've made it as basic as possible so it's simple to make plus there would be no gain from making it more complex. This way it can be simply turned out of ally bar stock on a lathe and then the flats machined on at the end. Even the flats don't have to be there really, I just added them to help me with clearance so I have more options of places to fit it. I'm hoping to hide it under where the pipework runs under the headlight anyway.

Here is a link to the pipework kit that I bought :

2.5" TURBO INTERCOOLER PIPING KIT+COUPLERS & CLAMPS B on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Jan-09 11:31:42 GMT)

The pipes are fantastic quality, good thick material, mandrel bent so no reduction in diameter at the bends etc. Comes with a bag full on really good quality jubilee clips. The only thing that is a bit rubbish are the silicone bends and joiners - they are injected moulded items without the cloth lining and are a bit on the short side but they'd do the job. I ended up buying some tidy ones, plus I had a few 'in stock' from other intercooler pipework i've knocked together in the past.

is that all you needed? the universal pipes and universal intercooler... think i could manage that :)

Plus the mount for the map sensor and you need to be happy to trim some bit's off your front panel, bumper bar etc.

And put together some kits for us lot :D

I'd be gratefull for a list of stuff needed and how much its all gona cost, with a rough time scale......might take this challenge on!

was gona buy the forge kit, but as everyone knows its pricey!

is the car running fine with the universal mount?
