Have just bought a second hand Superb 1.9TDI Auto and from what your describing I have the same issue. It sounds like I have an exhaust leak and gets worse under load/accelerating. Unfortunately I drive on motorways most of the time and get stuck in traffic regularly doing around 1600-2000 revs so can here it. I took it into my local dealer (who I bought it from) and they said they couldn't find anything wrong (they said they'd checked all the common points). Is this normal, does this engine always sound like it has an exhaust leak (I can't remember hearing this when I test drove it).

Any advice appreciated.

but did anyone found the solution to this original post ..VRSPhil maybe?

i do have this same symptoms ... desperately looking for a solution.
