Featured Replies

had a phone call from James, and an email from skoda UK, to say my car has been built and depatched from the factory. It is now awaiting shipping to the UK. Skoda UK also said they woudl "prioritise" the shipping !

not long to go now.....:):)

When was it ordered Jonathan?

Good news regardless, shouldn't be more than a few weeks.

ordered 6th october. should have been built 3/4 weeks ago but there was a delay on all petrol DSG cars. there is a slim chance i will have it for xmas but ironically i dont want to register it until 2009 as it seems silly to register it in 2008 for the sake of one week !

James I think your wish for an 09 car is easily done mine has been "prioritized" for the last two weeks sat on the dock side wherever awaiting dispatch and still showing exactly same on their system today.I ordered mine August 11 so I think i got the record for the longest wait lol.

It's been dispatched from the factory this morning so it should be at port tommorow at some point. Then it'll be shipped over next week and then it'll land in the UK and be ready to be transported down here.

I can't belive 555 hasn't got his car yet, seems to be taking a long time.

Worth bearing in mind that what we the dealers see on our screens isn't always accurate and can be a couple of days out of date if the other end hasn't updated it accordingly.

lol James you cant believe it how do you think i feel.

Our dealer has sold 4 new superbs and i have sorted half of those out i have done as good as the sales man and he is good lol.

I was hoping for my car for next wekend got special weekend away seems doubtful now lol.

But should be worth waiting for I hope:eek:

:eek: so you mean there is a chance its not been made at all ?

No yours is built for sure! Don't panic!

I must say that second to Billhum getting his Superb replaced as per his desired (hillhold) specs, getting jcblink's Superb prioritized, built and shipped is SUK customer care's greatest achievement. So many pixels have been killed during the discussions, since he had given his order.

:D

If we were in a queue you'd be behind me. Mine was ordered on 30 July.

Westy,

Are you still waiting?

Glad to hear the News JCBLincs. When will you get it registered?

I have done 3000 miles in mine since the 1st of November and I am really happy with it and no faults.

thanks. i think i will wait until 2009 to register it. It is likely that it will be available sometime around xmas bu it woudl seems silly to register it in 2008 for the sake of a few days. PLus it will be tricky to get to Allams over xmas as its about 4hrs away. makes sense to enjoy xmas with teh family then deal with superb collection on jan 2nd (assuming the car is available by then - fingers crossed !)

Westy,

Are you still waiting?

Was told the car had been built a week ago (the last date I was given was week 52, so it has been pulled forward by 3 weeks or so). It will be on the quayside with yours and hopefully be with the dealer about christmas for a January delivery.

But waiting 5 months for a new car ......... I'm not impressed.

Well westy you win the prize have you given them any grief about it?

Well westy you win the prize have you given them any grief about it?

Since you ask, and for that reason only .............

Well of course - if nobody told them they were upsetting customers and providing a poor service how would they know? They don't appear to be able to figure it out for themselves. I think I'm doing them a favour and helping them to improve their business, but doubt if they think that way. My dealer (who has provided first class service throughout and who I get on with very well - he sold me my Mk1) says I'm NOW well known at SUK and keeps telling me that 'my file' is the biggest he has, I'm sure he is exaggerating. On the other hand I had SUK refuse to let me add a 'very minor' option (rear door sun blinds) to my order six weeks away from my original build week (42 from memory) and was so annoyed I went over their head to Prague - and managed to get the blinds added by the factory. I wish I had been a fly on the wall to see SUK's response when they were told by the factory that a UK customer order had been changed!

So some parts of the business do care about customers and satisfaction, it's just that we are unlucky in the UK and SUK's senior managers aren't really interested in dealing with mere customers and attempting to sort out dissatisfaction, their job is 'management', 'finances', 'profits' etc. They have to deal with the 'big picture'. It's only now, as the credit crunch begins to bite, that they will begin to regret the poor customer service and realise that it was a missed business opportunity.

Whilst I recognise that the customer is not always right, SUK's approach appears to be that the customer is always wrong. The question they need to ask themselves is why did the customer become dissatisfied in the first place, and was it down to their actions or failures, misleading information in brochures and on the web - or worse, from SUK customer services or dealer support (which I have also experienced). I've even been told things by SUK that were inconsistent with information from Skoda's Info-Line (concerning what was happening at the factory). In my view Skoda's Info-Line provides a great service and SUK should learn from them (I accept however that some questions may not be answered by info-line, if they are 'more involved or have other implications' and need passed on to others to respond, who may not do so).

What action do SUK take to sort matters when a customer is unhappy? It's simple - they just fob you off and upset you even more.

I get the feeling that we - the customers (who are always recognised and valued in the marketing blurb, where it costs nothing) - are sometimes just regarded as a necessary evil in their 'car business'. I no longer regard the JD Customer Satisfaction surveys as meaningful. To be honest if it were not for the tremendous dealer service and people involved I would have walked away before now - and might yet do so!

My most recent discussions with someone further up the customer service tree at SUK were only a few days ago; he is a nice guy over the phone, and has acknowledged how poor a service I've had and apologised, but it is all meaningless unless they show some tangible gesture. Especially if I have suffered a tangible loss. There is a long story to tell but I'm getting fed up with the whole experience so won't bore you all and repeat it again.

I have come across one individual at customer services that I won't ever deal with again - I ended up apologising to him over the phone before telling him I was going to put the phone down on him and write to complain. I understand he has been spoken to.

So where am I now. Well I told the customer service man that my intention NOW was to complain direct to Prague. The phone went very quiet after that as he realised how badly that will reflect upon SUK. I told him to forewarn the MD so he knows what to expect. I don't expect to hear from him again as I now realise that they don't actually care.

Not really an ideal experience before taking ownership of a new car (that I've been following the development of since November last year) ........ and if anything were to go wrong with it ... I dread to think how things would go or whether I could rely upon SUK to be fair and reasonable.

Look on the bright side ... it's nearly Christmas :).

It surely won't make much difference, unless of course delivery is delayed until 1st March 2009, in which case it will be registered on a '09' plate.

It will!!

Look at Glasses and there will be £200 to £300 advantage on most cars between say a 2007 57 reg and a 2008 57 reg. Same for each year.

For the sake of a few days I would hold back registering it until 2009

£200 -£300 is not really that much over 5 yrs of ownership . However i think i will FEEL better having an 09 car not and 08 one. As I am buy over xmas and only get the bank hols of work (ie back to work on 29th dec) then i see no point in rushing. Unless the car arrives before xmas which will then be a dilema as i can show it off to all the visitors at xmas !!

Mine was built week 49 I was told the other day :), and my dealer here in Sweden expect it to arrive around New Year and the delivery will be the first weeks of 2009. I ordered it on October 10th, and was then told to expect delivery in early January. So my dealer seems to have had more precise information as to what to expect.

The way the car business is going I expect the red carpet and that they will massage my shoulders while I sign the delivery, and a bottle of Champagne in the cooled compartment...

Do not blame the recession on me! :D

I ordered mine jully 20, and finaly i juste have the news: i have it monday PM

i'm verry impatient......

*SUK's approach appears to be that the customer is always wrong*

Yes, that's my experience also.

*I no longer regard the JD Customer Satisfaction surveys as meaningful*

I gave up long ago, they had the whole VX range near the bottom, one being the Omega, I owned 2 of these and how anyone could really be unhappy with one at the time is beyond me.

*I'm NOW well known at SUK and keeps telling me that 'my file' is the biggest he has, I'm sure he is exaggerating.*

So what, if they can't realise that you spend and they gain it's their loss, next time say to him I bet it's nowhere near as big as the one I have on you and SUcK.
