Track rod ends....

Featured Replies

Hi, i have knocking from the front end (sounds like its coming from the steering rack) that has been diagnosed as the track rod ends broken. Anybody have a part number for them or do you have to get the whole track rod? Is it an easy job, roughly how much am i looking at to get this done at a garage?

Should anything else in that area be replaced at the same time??

Cheers

Steve

knocking noise more likely to be coming from the front roll bar links , very common problem

i've not heard of any vRS requiring track rod ends

My front arb is fine, and i had the garage look it over while they were servicing it, as i was worried it was my steering column on the way out.... They checked it out and said it is the track rod ends - they were ordering the parts in to do it but haven't got back to me... I contacted them to see whats up and was told they were on back order and they'd let me know when they were in.... Still not heard anything, so was just wondering how much skoda are likely to charge to do it, and whether it was a long job...?

Track rod ends are cheap, I needed a couple on my TDI 100bhp estate. They are about £15 each and take about 15mins to fit,.

Shouldn'd brake the bank.

Track rod ends on "back order"? That means that there must be a run on them right now!

So do you think my local Skoda specialist maybe bs'ing me?? Maybe i'll give my local stealer a bell and see if they can get them, if they say the parts are back order too then at least i know one way or the other....... I know the issue isn't anything to stress over, and my wheels aren't gonna fall off or anything, but i tend to like getting any problems sorted as soon as they occur.
