They wanted to charge me for fixing the pipe. Car just over a year old. They said it was common for the pipe to freeze and it was chargeable.

I explained that I had always used Skoda Screen Wash and so it should not have frozen. Besides it's been off about six weeks. Before the frosts I think. I also explained that I had seen the bulletin from Skoda to the dealers about the pipe.

They then relented but said he would speak to the Warranty man on Monday !

As long as you have the correct wash fluid at the correct strength, which they should test IAW the TSB then you should be ok.

Yeah I always use the Skoda stuff because it's pretty good. I did fill the bottle up yesterday with a new bottle however. :-)

When I purchased my car the pipe was already off (water only in the washers). However, I fixed mine using a post on here in about 10 minutes. Used various screen wash additives since (not from Skoda) and never had a problem. Just make sure the concentration is sufficient to prevent freezing.

I think its a bit of a money generating exercise from the dealers to charge you, given its a design flaw.
