Fitting Mk2 Headlight Washers to the Mk1 Octavia

Featured Replies

my 2002 octavia has headlight washers on the front bumper for the xenon headlights.

they look like warts to many. in theory there is already present: the washer fluid, power cable, washer turn on cable, and a hole in the bumper.

therefore how difficult would it be to fit the headlight washers from the mk2 that pop up out of the bumper and then hide inside the bumper again ?

setting aside cost for the moment, is it possible, how hard would it be, then how much would it be?

colour coding the tops would be easy with a rattle can from halfords.

would look a bit better IMO than the warts

I don't see it being a problem except for the different shape of the bumper, you might be better looking at the popups from the xenon based fabia

yeah i looked at a mk2 octavia earlier, the bumper is a different shape, and i would imagine the jet is non moveable, thus it would mis the light

so i would need a jet that pops up and shoots at the correct angle to begin with.

do the washers come as complete units, with the pop up motor and pump all built into one big plastic lump ?

I have no idea i'm afraid, might be worth asking in the fabia1 section.

tbh i dont care that much per se, its more me wondering IF it can be done

if someone knows anything about it im interested though :)

thanks matt

There's no motor on the Octy II headlamp washers, it uses water pressure.

Looked at this some time ago for a friend and couldn't find a way to use the Mk2 parts. Look for an after-market kit. These tend to be adjustable so that they fit just about any car.

Out of interest would the system that is used on the Audi A3 be a better shape??

Cheers

looks great, thanks for those photos! very handy!

anyone got a part number / price for the mk2 octy headlamp washers, so i can see if its even worth bothering to try with ?

the angle of them looks about right.

i assume they just need one washer line in then? as the pump is activated by the ECU etc.

so they must be pretty passive things, water gets pumped to them by you operating the switch, the water goes to them and that makes them spray.

so there cant even be a turn on / off wire.

in theory then, if you connect the water pipers up snugly, it should work?

then its just a case of mounting them securely, and spraying the plastic covers to match the car colour (halfords spray can or something).
