Boot opener Mod Idea?

Featured Replies

Just thinking..

Cars like Mercs can open the boots fully from the remote.. My Dad's had a couple (03 C class & 87 SEC 420  )... anyways, both sedan boots that open by springs..

Now, I'm guessing this is possible because a salon boot lid is light and springs are more suited to this, being able to open the boot but not put too much strain on the latch (but that said, maybe Mercs have super strong boot catches),..

Long story short.. if you put different lifters on the Furby.. could the remote boot release that already exists be used to open the boot remotely... fully? or would that put way to much strain on the catch and cause your boot to keep spring open on speed bumps?

Any thoughts?

Oh, just another thought..

I've seen one of those Chrysler people carrier things that opened and closed it's back door remotely..

guessing this was possible by replacing the lifter with a pneumatic jack?

I guess you could try and buy stonger boot lifters - only thing you might find is that it will be a bit of an effort to close the boot once it's open!!

saw this on a chop shop episode - they used an aftermarket hydraulic pump and lifter system. Think you could find one with a google search, wire a relay from the boot release solenoid and adjust the timer to suit....

Sounds a bit over my head,.. I get what your saying but I don't think I want it bad enough to start installing hydraulic jacks and the relevant control systems.. I'll just keep opening it on the edge to avoid the dirt.. or perhaps I should just clean my car more often ;-)

I was always impressed by the vectra estate outside here; you can open and close the boot fully (must be electronic?) with a button - would be ideal for the fabia as (as Chris said) - it's **** end does get incredibly mucky.
