Deadlocks

Featured Replies

I had an engine management light on a few weeks ago asking me to change the battery, a garage checked the battery and said it had failed (voltage was very low) and replaced it. It then started much better so I chose to ignore the engine management light for the mean time until I could get it cleared or cleared itself.

Thankfully the engine management light has cleared itself today, but I noticed that on the last outing, after turning the ignition on, waiting for most of the lights to clear and then starting the engine that the battery light was the last one to go out which usually isnt the case.

Anyway, I have just got back home and locked (remote central locking) the car and didnt hear the reassuring double lock sound that lets me know the deadlocks are on, also the LED on the drivers door isnt flashing. Sure enough the deadlocks havnt gone on but the car has locked ok.

This has happened to me before but it sorted itself out after a couple of days.

What would the possible causes be of this?

Could it be a similar problem as to when my window and mirror control swapped left and right due to the canbus having a quirk?

Thanks all,

Mike

When the battery fails, it can cause all sorts of intermittent electrical problems. Best course of action would be a code read using VAGCOM or FCR, and any codes cleared. Comfort module may require a reset as well.
