Calling UK Supberb II Elegance owners

Featured Replies

Hi

I took delivery of my Superb II Elegance with all the bells and whistles in November. Really nice car to drive, very smooth and refined!

However I noticed that several features advertised in the sales brochure and user manual are missing.

As my old eyes have problems with glare at night, one of the standard features advertised in the sales brochure I had been looking forward to were the auto-dimming wing mirrors. Guess what, they weren't fitted!

When I got back to my dealership about this and they offerd me a few quid, said that specs can change and good luck.

This means that even if you pay for something when ordering, it doesn't actually mean that you get it. I somehow feel short changed on this...

Just was wondering if anyone else has raised this issue with their dealership and what the outcome was?

on the back cover of the brochure "...the information in this brochure is not binding and is subject to alteration..."

did you get auto-dim rear view mirror as the door mirrors mightuse the sensor in the rear view mirror to detect the lights behind. if you havent got this they moght not work (just a theory ?)

What did they offer you?

if you look in the current brochure the words "..with auto dimming function.." have been removed. its farcical really as it now says the elegance as folding mirrors over and above the SE spec but the SE already has folding mirrors so it doesnt read right !!

did you also get a space saver wheel despite ordering a car listed with full size spare wheel ?

i suspect this might have happened to my car as well. I shall be having a conversation with skoda if this is the case as space savers are stupid, dangerous and inconvenient. what if i have a puncture with my caravan on. can i tow on a space saver ?? i woudl not be very happy to do so ?

mirrors - we had these on our audi and they were rubbish. they dimmed too much on the motorway so you couldnt tell which lane cars were in. you could turn them off by turning the rear view mirror off but then you got glare from the rear view.

The car comes with a space saver wheel only- don't think they can even fit a full wheel into the boot.

The rear view mirror is the manual type - I now know you need the auto dimming to work the wing mirrors. The sales brochure said "auto-dimming wing mirror", that's what I wanted and that's what I paid for. I don't get paid to check if the spec are plausible.

And the disclaimer that spec can change without notice- I would expect that when I sign the purchase order and am not told that there are changes, that is what I get... or maybe the next time Skoda do a bit of cost saving and replace the rear seat with a wooly blanket

I've got the feeling the sales brochure was published without a full review and plausibility check. Same with the manual - translated by a literate person, who didn't have a clue about left hand drive, but it makes fun reading and gives hours of entertainment...

The "refund" offered was £200 - on a ~£24k car. For me it wasn't the money, but my eyes that have been giving me trouble.

you can fit a full size (probably 16") wheel in the car as the "S" model comes with one (why do they think someone spending more money wants a poxy space saver ??)

so in theory my car will come with the auto dim wing mirrors even though i dont really want them and you need them and dont have them...shall we swap cars !!

if you have issues with your eyes why didnt you spec the auto-dim rear view mirror ?

i know this is stating the obvious but i sometimes dip the door mirrors down with the elctric adjuster to reduce glare - not an ideal solution but as least a solution

I don't like the auto-dimming rear view mirrors, they respond too slowly, I prefer to give it the manual flick, then the glare is gone and stays gone.

i see. fair point. i didnt like my auto dim when i first got it in my passat but i got used to it and prefer it now.

sorry that you ended up not getting what you thought you were getting. not sure there is anything you can do. could you get tinted film applied to the mirrors to help reduce glare ?

Did you ask about the auto dimming mirrors at the time of ordering? if you did and were told they came as std then i would get them to either retro fit them or reject the car, as it is not to the spec that you ordered.

If however nothing was mentioned and you assumed they would be fitted (as it stated so in the brochure) then i agree with the dealer - good look!
