Review - The Shine Studio, Haslingden, Lancs

Featured Replies

I popped in to the Shine Studio (Shine Studio - Car Detailing Lancashire) in Haslingden, Lancashire today and had a chat with the owner Alan. The Shine Studio offers a number of detailing services, but also retails a wide range of detailing products.

Alan is a regular over on Detailing World (Detailing World), and runs the "Samples-R-Us" service, where you can get small amounts of various detailing products to evaluate (bearing in mind that many of the detailing products are aimed at bulk buyers in the trade, and are perhaps more than an occasional user would want).

Basically, he charges....

The retail price of product divided by the amount decanted per sample.

Cost of Bottle & lid .

Packaging & Postage to UK

Paypal fee

10p / 20p per bottle to be donated to the Detailing World Charity

Anyway, I have to say Alan is a top bloke. I was like a kid in a sweet shop, but he was happy to chat for almost an hour to give me recommendations of what to use with the Kestrel DAS-6 that I am getting for Xmas.

He has a wide range of products for sale (Autoglym, Megs, 3M, Dodo Juice and many more). I would strongly recommend a visit if you are reasonably local.

At the moment, I think his sample service is run through the DW forums, although he did mention that his website shop is being worked on and should be up and running soon.

That's not far from the mother in laws, will call in one day and have a look. Like the DIY option he's running.

Yes - I noticed that - quite tempting if you just want to do an annual spring clean and don't want to splash out on all the gear and detailing products.

Sounds like a good place to do a detailing meet. Everyone chip in to hire a few bays and get a chance to learn from others and give it a go yourself.

Now that's a plan. Can I suggest possibly before mid March? i'll gladly pay for one bay. Have a nice event coming up in April and would be nice to get the hard work done prior to it.

Cheers for the info - could be a place I'd be interested in, to try some other products.

Like the idea of a detailing meet too. We did one a few years ago down at Meguiars UK in Daventry and that was excellent.

If i turn up to one of these detailing meets will someone clean my car? :D

Yep we'll clean yours for you Col. Give me a chance to try the polishers on your paint before sorting mine, sounds a good deal. :)
