Dumb RCL question

Featured Replies

Now I have it, I'm not sure I'm doing it right.

1 click to unlock = drivers door

2 clicks to unlock = all doors + boot

boot button does what it says on the tin

But when locking

1 click = locks, wait 2 to 3 seconds, indicators flash

2 clicks = locks then flashes indicators on 2nd click.

Is this doing 2 different things by any chance?

Dont think the second lock does anything, but I always press it twice.

Just habbit.

Dave

Likewise, I do that out of habit, but does it arm/disable the alarm I wonder...?

The second press disables the deadlocks and turns off interior monitoring.

iirc the 2nd one disarms the interior alarm

lol, so were all pressing twice out of habbit/make sure, and its actually turning things off!

Hmm..I didnt know this , but always just lock the car with one press anyway.

On the topic of alarms, how do I set it off? I want to hear how loud it actually is.

Great - So I've been making my car even less secure!:doh:

Dave - Lock the car with just the key, in the door barrel, then open it again with the key alone a few seconds later. It should go off as soon as you open the door. :D PS: Got my grille ta.

Lock car but leave a window down slightly, wait two minutes for alarm to settle. Wave hand through window, alarm should sound.

Or pull the bonnet release but don't open it. Lock the car, wait 2 mins then open the bonnet. Turn alarm off.:)

I didn't know this either! Thanks for pointing it out

Thank can't be right... on my VRS i often release the bonnet, lock the car then go get the stuff to fill the jets up. takes me about 5-10 mins as i have to get the screen wash from the shed. when i lift the bonnet I don't get an alarm. When I close the bonnet the lights flash again.

I know the alarm works as recently I had the battery disconnected and had to reset the one touch windows. After putting the key in the ignition after I heard the alarm blast 1-2 times which was fun and deafening at about 11 pm.

Oh, and by the way... am I the only guy who actually looked at the manual?

Another way to set the alarm off is to sit in and lock the car twice.

This turning the deadlock off, as said above.

Then open your door pulling the handle twice.

This will also sound the alarm.
