Drivers side front wheel Noise.

Featured Replies

When ever I go over a slight bump i here a rattle like a loose screw. I'm going to take the wheel off and see what I see.

And when ever I put full lock on or take it off there is a banging noise??

It could be the drivers side spring - and if left to long you could do more damage.

Mine has been banging for a long time now. Have just had the Wishbone brushes replaced and bearings done and Skoda can still not find what the problems is. Its now pulling to the left as well. Its a real shame because up until recently i havent had a single problem with my Fabia. Also my settlement figure is more thatn the cars worth so trade in is not a great option. :(

Had the same - rattle like a heavy screw (!) over bumpy roads - DIY replaced the Drop Links [EDIT] and all was well....

Just a thought can you hear it if you slam the drivers door? if so check the heat sheild on the exhuast takes 2 secs to tighten and is off coarse a free repair

And when ever I put full lock on or take it off there is a banging noise?? - sounds like a CV joint (not for beginners!)

It doesn't make a noise if I slam the door I tried that.

Same with me too no nosie on door slaming. If it was a CV joint wouldnt have Skoda found that when they had my car and was trying to find out what the nosie was?

You would have thought so, you can usually tell with CV joints if you put it onto full lock then accelerate if you get the knock then it's prob the joint, the noise on slamming door was purely aimed at the 'screw rattling' noise not the 'knock' as for the knock their are other suggestions above to check I do find it incredible that a dealer can't find out what it is could be nothing more serious than a exhaust mounting rubber getting a little weak which is fine on the ramp but not when travelling over humps , maybe ask if you can take a tech out in the car with you and try to replicate it with him in the car.

Drop links do wear out. When they do: rattling over bumps and at full lock.

They're pretty inexpensive, POC to DIY fit and even if only slightly worn you feel an improvement in steering...
