Dealer offering to buy my vrs off me!

Featured Replies

I had a letter from Bickertons of Sheffield asking to but my Fabia vrs.

As it happens I sold the car 11 month ago but it seems strange for a dealer to try to buy a car back. There was nothing about a trade in,In understood it to be a cash sale.

anyone else had anything similar?

I haven't, but if i get a letter over the next few days i will sell it them (if the price is reasonable).

I love the car and don't plan to sell it, but i'm about to go away for nearly 4 months so it will be sat on the drive depreciating and not getting used, so i might as well add any money i earn while i'm away to the money its sold for, and get something newer when i get back :)

Happened to friend of mine. She's bought cars from the same dealer for years and years and they know she changes her car for a BRAND NEW one every other year and hardly drives the ones she buys and keeps them mint. When she this time around decided not to get a new car because of the economy and all that they rung her repeatedly with offers of buying her car back. Apparently it already had an interseted buyer???

yeah i get them all the time.... come and try our new fabia 2 1.2htp etc etc... we want your vrs.... thats because the dealers have very few vrs to sell and it seems theyre best seller

I got the "letter" too.

It seems that the vrs is the best selling fabia and they dont have any stock of fabia vrs so they want to buy some.

If I have chance over Chrismas I mght pop down and see what the deal actually is. I susspect the cash buy will be pretty low but thet can offer a "great" trade in.

Also when my octavia went in for a service a couple of weeks ago when I picked it up they had done a trade in value and put together a package deal on a mk2 vrs. Its a direct effort to increase sales. I dont mind it at all it helps keep your finger on the pulse and you might even be tempted:D

its more likely trying to get you to buy a new car from them from where sales have dropped off.

If sales have dropped, discounts have improved ;)

Well, thats the theory anyway...

Yep happend to me a few times but noway am I ever part ex'ing my Furby after the money ive spent on it. Its a keeper so I told the dealer to "have a wee & fornicate under consent of the king off" as they just think were thick and that most of us are aware we can get a grand more in a private sale.

most of us are aware we can get a grand more in a private sale.

I wouldn't bet on that at the moment. Nothing is selling at the moment.
