BBC NEWS | England | Merseyside | Speeders have convictions quashed

I drive past this camera every day,

The camera has been their for nearly two years with the 40mph(temporary speed limit)

Ive just phoned a mate and told him the good news about when he was caught doing 50mph at 2am in the morning back in july

This happened in Edinburgh on the Maybury road. Council moved speed limit signs without the proper planning permission. The period of 'illegal signs' was nearly 10 years

LOL , i go passed that camera as well

its about time they finished those road works , the original completion date signs were for summer 2008, then autumn 2008 , well its now winter and they are still t!tting about

The average speed everyone seems to do through those roadworks now is 55 to 60mph due to them being their so long and everyone getting used to them.

Im waiting for the police camera to appear and have a field day before they take all the cones away

probably some time in 2012

At least the Police have appologised. Bet that won't do for some people

Wonder if some person ended up getting points which tipped them over the 12 limit and causing them to loose their job......

Very good point that. I would think it would be a class law case for massive compensation in some cases.

plus the folk whos insurance has gone up due to having extra points on their licence

As ever I stand alone! These people were 'wrongly' prosecuted because of an admin error only. They all sped through the signposted limit putting road workers' lives at risk. They deserve no sympathy whatsoever.

Totally agree with Kandy.

The speed limit was still broke, so they still deserve to be fined and receive points.

They are lucky on this occasion, and its just another bit of egg on the face of the people who set these stupid laws in such a way people can get off with an offence when they are guilty.
