Radio Adapter/Amplifier

Featured Replies

Santa got me a DVD Player but i cant listen to radio as it does not have an adapter:(

Where do I get one from.

Also i can't push the player back far enough for it fit properly it sicks out more than an inch i think the wires are squashed at the back??

You can get an amplifier from pretty much anywhere, including Halfords.

Depending on the type of input into your new head unit, you'll need either one of these or one of these. The flying blue wire will need to be connected to a 12V feed, preferably a switched one so it's only powered when the dvd unit is on.

What dvd player did you get?

If your DVD player is a single DIN unit, i.e. you still have the cubbie storage holder below, you may find that you have to try and stuff cables behind that to give enough room for the dvd player to fit fully inside.

edit: another common problem is if you find your radio presets and other settings are never saved. This happens when the switched and permanent 12V feeds are swapped over. This is often the case for Pioneer units which have the 12V battery and 12V ignition the other way around in the DIN power connector.

HTH :)

If your having problems getting it fitted, remove the vents above the stereo, (use a thin knife) and reach in and pull the cables up :)

I have one of these:

Autoleads PC5-52 VAG Group 'Bee-Sting' Aerial Interface £10.40 including VAT. PC552. Buy discounted car audio online at In-Car Express

works a treat. the second link in the one posted above from halfords is the same one (pc552). Not sure if you need an aerial adapter too with it... I've aquired several over the years.

My stereo was VERY tight with the wires at the back. find someone with small hands and try to push the wires into the gaps either side at the back... thats what I did and it finally popped in :)

Right so how do I connect the flying blue wire to a 12v feed and which one, on my wharfedale diagram the is a blue cable which is called power antenna/amplifier turn on is it that?

And il try and swap the perm and the switch cables round looks pretty easy with a bullet connector or is it possible to swap them directly over at the iso connection box.

On the diagram the switch is red and the perm is yellow?

Thanks.

That blue power antenna lead is the one you want to hook up to the aerial booster. And you will likely need to swap the yellow and red bullet connectors so they match up with the Skoda loom.

And if you still can't get the DVD player to fit, I've heard a fair few people have actually cut away the plastic piece at the back of the stereo which normally holds the factory unit in place. Just an idea.

I swapped the red and yellow cables round, connected the blue cable and got it all fitted perrfectly.

Everything works!

I can finally preset stations!
