Fuel consumption after timing belt change

Featured Replies

Had my timing belt changed last month on my Fabia Vrs and just been on a long run 300+ miles and got 47 mpg, before timing belt had been changed I was averaging 54 - 55 mpg on a long journey could this be a coincidence or what? any thoughts out there.

Interesting...... I've noticed mine seems to be down since my belt was changed too. Though i also think the weather is a tad colder since it was done too, so might be part of the reason? Thats sort of what i'd put it down to in my head anyway..... but maybe there is some sort of connection with the belt change??

Well its possible that the belt needs to wear in abit , thus the engine is using slighty more power , i noticed the same on a Golf i had , it should settle in .If not the belt has been incorrectly tensioned
