Haynes put up an idea yea....rs ago of a a bit of 2x1/2 inch plate bolted to one of the rear nuts - sort of locked the whole thing in place - any use ??

Maybe I should change my title from "Briscodean " to "Ancient briscodean with ideas (and a long memory )"

I've been known to put a long bar across the hub with a couple of wheel bolts in or wait until the wheels are on and remove the centre caps.

i did think of that stu, but i need to work with the nose in the air for some time before i can put it back down on it's wheels again..

i was thinking of making something like the suggestion above, a piece of steel bar with a y piece and a sort of pivot in the middle all bolted together

why not just nip them up for now and torque them when you are done.

i need to work out exactly how much float there is in the cv joints/driveshafts so i can precisely position the height of the back of the gearbox, i need to have the shafts in place so i can fabricate a downpipe to fit round it which might mean i need to temporarily drop off the subframe to get access to make measurements

Two wheel bolts and a pry bar usually does for me.
