Bolero radio for Ocy2

Featured Replies

I would like to change my current MFD2 for a new Bolero unit.

Can anyone tell me

1) is this possible to fit and function well in my car?

2) how much are they?

I have a Octy 2 VRS on an 07 plate.

Thanks in advance:D

OOooh...if you do decide to sell your MFD2 can I have first refusal? Hopfully I would have found a suitable Octavia to fit it into by then :D

Was the DAB issue ever resolved? Ie why it's disabled?

I think it's an option for the DAB - It's listed for the MK6 Golf.

Seeing as Skoda's website have an 'audience mp3' HU at a silly price (nearly £700) i reckon the bolero direct from skoda will be even more silly.

However, if i bought a car with standard HU, and paid upgrade to bolero, then presumably the price might be more reasonable (say for arguments sake £400, probably half the price of the part only).

If this happened would my bolero be factory fitted, or would the car turn up with the boggo unit and a bolero be sent to the dealer in a nice little box for them to fit.

If the latter, why cant a dealer flog me a bolero by sticking it on someone else's car as an 'upgrade'? i.e. customer orders octavia, doesnt want bolero, but they stick the upgrade down, customer takes new octavia with boggo HU, dealer flogs me bolero for the upgrade price? I could do with seeing if this is even possible before asking the local dealers - sure, they will probably tell me to 'go forth and multiply' but dont ask, dont get. At the end of the day, they aint gonna get the full parts only price off me so they might be willing?

I think the biggest problem is going to be cost.

If you look at the Columbus unit.

To buy one of these brand new - well basically you're looking at something in the £1500 area (as far as I can tell).

However refurn and second-hand units are available for around the £700 mark and so far these have all worked well.

The Bolero unit is relatively new and I'm guessing so far there are very few in the refurb/second-hand market.

You'll need to pop into your local Skoda dealer to get an exact price.

With reference to getting your dealer to add it as an extra.

I'm guessing you can only order it with a new car and it would come fitted at the factory - the dealer is unlikelly to get involved with that upgrade.

Even if they did - that car that had the upgrade ordered against it would be logged on the warranty system as having a Bolero.

Should the standard unit fail within warranty, they would then have problems as the warranty would say Bolero however the car would have a standard player.

I doubt any dealership would want to get involved with that kind of thing.

Yeah that's what i thought - just wondered if it was even worth the ask (might have been if the units weren't factory fitted and i hadnt thought about the warranty issue).

Just have to forget it then - not paying over the odds for a Skoda unit when much better can probably be gotten for cheaper. Only useful thing is the temperature anyway (unless i get parking sensors added which i am considering) so no real need for OEM.
