Installing rear roof lights

Featured Replies

How easy do you think it would be to tap the wiring of say, the boot light, or the interior roof light, and make extra lights to be above each rear door. Thinking of using the same units as in the boot trim already. Also thinking of putting another boot light in on the other side as well?

Aside from possibly having to uprate the fuse a notch, any other problems?

only problem i can think of is the current rating of the wiring

however if you use led lamps ;)

I was looking at doing the same in my hatch 1.9TDi, as the estate already has them.....now you know what to ask for! :-)

I will need to check behind the trim to see if the hole is there in the chassis to allow the standard estate light to fit.

I can check the interior light fuse in both cars to see if they are the same or not.

Cutting a hole is not a problem [slowly extends & retracts blade on stanley knife in a slightly disturbing manner] ;)

in which case it would be better to find the wire off the fuse box and go from there where the wire rating will be higher.

domestic and comercial electrics i can help with

car electrics are the work of the devil

I was thinking of adding a interior light to the rear of my octy also

Couldn't I just run wires from the front interior light tot he back

and work them from there

thatt way the front will also control the back light

I have the proper ones from the Elegance J, if you want? New and never got round to doing anything with them.

Give me a shout; alternatively they'll appear on a packed Classifieds ad near you, soon :D

Considering the currents involved, I dont see why it should be a problem :)

I think it's a bad idea. I mean think of the extra weight....

He could uprate the turbo to compensate.
