ive had my 1.2 htp for a year now and im starting to notice that when i turn the key the car just makes a whirring noise so i have to very slowly turn the key back to achive ignition. :thumbdwn:

just wondering what the best course of action is with this cause its damn annoying.:(

Sounds like your starter motor is on its way out. They work by using an electro magnet to throw out a gear which catches on the engine and spins it. The whirring noise your hearing could be the starter motor spinning without the electro magnet throwing the gear to catch the engine.

could also be a weak battery, a lot of places do checks for free

took it down to my local garage for a service and mentioned the problem and they said they would have a look.

went to pick up the car at 5pm and the car now turns over but doesnt start, i'm now skodaless :(
