Octavia + hydraulic bonnet opener

Featured Replies

I know people have doing this sort of thing with Fabia bonnets - but I wondered if it was possible with the Octy.

Im fed up of having to lift the bonnet and use an archaic system of holding the bonnet up. Besides that - it would be a handy little mod.

Does anyone know what kit I would need to do it, or better still, has anyone done it?

Fantastic, cheers guys!

The MkV Golf bonnet lifter fits directly to the Octavia and is a VAG readily accesible part. All the fixing points are clearly visible on the Octavia but there is an issue with securing the lower mounting point as it either needs to be riveted or welded in place.

I have a couple of the Golf brackets here somewhere already painted in Race Blue if you want one, been in my way for ages but couldn't bear to throw them away - You know how it is!!

That might have been the reason, why they didnt sell it for a longer time.

My bracket looks different, already thinner where GAFF had to modify his.

On the milotec pages there is a little picture. Because of the copyrights I am not allowed to put it on here, but I can write down the link ;)

Can anyone post pics of the difficult Mk5 bracket so I can see what the issue is? Just trying to get my head round it as I have a brother in law who welds and rivetting is hardly rocket science.

I sent RSD in UK and Milotec in Germany photos and emails about the problem, they initially said they'd get back to me but never did, maybe they did find a problem so.

Photos attached. IMHO welding would be quite difficult because of all the plastic and rubber parts under the bonnet. I would also be very dubious about getting back to bare metal on the strut housing and the effect of heat on the suspension strut itself.

Hi there,

I would like to use this topic in order to ask my question...

Do anybody knows what is the length in closed or opened position of the shock absorber? And also how much newtons I need in order to work on Skoda Octavia 2 FL 2010?

I have a friend who has a lot of shock absorbers in stokc, but he is not from my city, so I need to know what to tell him, in order to send the right one to me.

Thank you very much!

Regards.
