Oils

Featured Replies

I checked out the useful "suitable oils" thread here:

http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/what-oils-meets-specs-vw-504-00-507-00-a/55476/

But was a bit confused by this bit:

VW 504 00 covers the following VW-specifications for petrol-engine cars:

VW 501 01

VW 502 00

VW 503 00

Vw 503 01

VW 507 00 covers the following VW-specifications for diesel-engine cars:

VW 505 00

VW 505 01

VW 506 00

VW 506 01

I have some oil which is rated VW 502/505. Because "505" is listed under the "VW 507 00" does that mean my oil is suitable for a 1.9 diesel Octy?

Yes - "505 XX" is for diesel only.

If your car is on fixed service intervals, you can use both "505 01" and "507 00".

If your car is on variable service intervals, you should use only "507 00".

Do not use "505 00".
