5 months of ownership

Featured Replies

Hi all , Ive owned my VRS for 5 months now and its been a bad 5 months too !

Thought i found a bargin when i saw it advent on the autotrader ! 2001 on a Y reg with 38000 on the clock , Full service history at £4300 !

Anyway , Had the car for afew weeks and was brill then the engine managment light came on . Was told it was the diverter valve so i changed that to a forge007p and got the forge carbon fibre air filter to go along with it and got the codes cleared . Was fine for a week or so and then the same problem/code came back .

Got it cleared again as i thought it didnt clear right and all was well for a month or so

then the rear brakes went on her , Got the discs and pads first one went like a dream , The second caliper was nacked ! So needed a new caliper all was well untill the revs started playing up in the morning on choke (which i posted a video of and people saing it was the TB ) and the same code came back again.

So put the stardard diverter valve back on and cleared the code , Still there . So took air filter off over xmas and cleared TB and all seems ok at the moment , Just need to get the codes cleared of again .

Then the rear window regaltor broke and the window goes down itself so had to wedge it now for the time beganing

Now on friday night , A women in a renault senic drove into the back of me on the slip road off M18 junction 2 . I was waiting at the roundabout , She pushed me 3-4 feet forward . Going through insurce now and claiming for whiplash me and the g/f are . My car isnt to badly damage , Afew scratchs on the bumper , But the towbar took it all so got to wait and see now if theres any damage underneath her or behind the bumper .

So after 5 months of owning her , Starting to think i wish i'd kept my RSi clio now lol

:(

Shall I tell you how much it's worth now?

;)

Hope you get it all sorted.

Due to the fact that it's an injury RTC, have you reported this to your local police station? This needs to be done within 24 hrs of the accident or as soon as practicable!!! Did the police attend at the time of the accident?

I only ask this becuase when you go through the insurers, they will contact the accident department of your local force HQ and if no accident record has been submitted then they will most likely claim that you can't have been injured at the time.

Claiming for neck injuires... i can garuntee you... is a lengthy process and the other insurance company will do anything and everything not to pay you out.

Have you got A&E records to prove you were in an accident or have you at least been to your GP to be assessed by him/her. You needs loads of proof for this.

Private message me if you want more advice as i bet you can't guess what i do for a living ;o)

Having seen how the towbar is fitted to my Oct Estate, and if it took the brunt of the impact that I would be not feeling very happy right now :-(

there was a highway patrol officer parked on the roundabout lucky enough and he came over and we went to the hospital that same night . Was there for 2 n half hours and had 3 X-rays each .

Where the exhaust is , theres a cut out so you can see up to the towbar and theres a good 2 inch gap between the towbar beam and the rear of the car

my towbar mounting points are from the rear of the car towards the wheel arches, I would have expected it to have crumpled towards the rear of the wings. My "towbar beam" replaced the crash bar. Guess it depends on how high her speed was when she hit you. Main thing is that you are alive (abit it with whiplash)

too bad mate hope all goes to plan.

some one else got shunted up tharse not too long ago and iirc didnt get too much damage.

I think the octy is a good strong car at the rear mate.

all best

billy

Good luck with everything, just don't regret your decision. The vRS is a huge step up from anything French no matter how many niggles you have!
