Metal/Plastic Water Pump Fan

Featured Replies

My cambelt/water pump is due to be replaced next month and I have just sent of two emails one to my local Skoda dealer and the other one to an independent garage for quotes ( Fletcher Bros, Halifax), would both garages fit the metal fan without me asking them or should I say something.

ive just had mine done, and having done 55k there was no play whatsoever in the old water pump, in fact apart from it being slightly dirty on the outside you couldnt really tell which was the new or the old one

i fitted an OE one

The standard plastic impeller OEM pump will be fine in your car. If you want metal, you would need to ask for a QH pump or other make.

I had a VAG metal one fitted, I believe from Audi and the part number on my receipt was 045121011H

Mine was replaced by a metal one at a point where it made sense, however apparently these non-metal ones only failed on the 1.8T engine and the design was altered a bit to sort the OEM item out as well.

My OEM pump was just fine still though at 60k when the cambelt was changed :)
